My Green Car Design

Engine:
+Petrol Multimode; Atkinson/Miller cycle, both undersquare engines that leave the intake valve open for part of the compression cycle. Miller req's intake compression, electric.
+Desmodromic valves; no valve spring resistance to overcome, no valve float problems
+Fuel heated by running lines along coolant hoses
+direct injection, instant-on design (Mazda patent), not diesel compatible?
-BioDiesel 2 tank system, no plugs,
-cylinder shut-off variable displacement; power on demand
-Turbo; power on demand

Drivetrain:
Energy recovery; Mechanical; +cheap; -dangerous, -unreliable?
Pneumatic; +no fluids to monitor, -spongy inconsistent power
Hydraulic; -unreliable?
Electric; +works well with solar, +no starter req'd, capacitors instead of batteries
CVT auto w high overdrive ratio and speed limiter
Hybrid; a planetary gear on the input allows multiple power sources to be used

Suspension:
Rims have a propeller design so they pump air out from under the car=car is suctioned to road, disk brake rotor in the way?
semi active air suspension; closes air-escape valve front shocks when braking hard, outside shocks when cornering hard.
Built on 1 of 3 frames; economies of volume, stiff like a sports car
Non-vented disk brakes; max req'd with regenerative braking
Tires pushed to the very corners of vehicle for max stability

Exterior:
Flexible body panels; plastic & corn/hemp mixture, colored thru to hide scratches
modular hatchback/wagon design
split tread tires for wider w less side roll, less rolling resistance

Intelligence:
computer has a wifi connection to auto-update it's program, send reminders, get quotes on maintenance, report it's location if stolen, have the ignition killed by a police officer, auto brake if the car in front is braking hard, tattle top speeds & odometer readings to the insurance company?, add a USB camera to capture license plates, search for stolen vehicles/ report crazy drivers/ suggest a carpool/ driving assist/ use infrared to warn of animal on the road at night
Key is RFID; don't need to take it out of your wallet to start car
Top speed limited by separate RFID card issued by insurance Co. You can go fast, but you're gonna pay to do it.
Steering wheel senses if you let go; driving assist engages, cruise control disengages, hazard lights engage, pull off to side of road?

Concept; Modularization - the whole is made of smaller independent pieces with a standard interface; when 1 of the pieces wears out the whole doesn't have to be replaced. Replacement is cheaper.
Pivot steering; the engine and passenger compartments of the vehicle are separate pieces and a central pivot is used for steering.
Pro; no CV joints, alignments easy to change to an alternate fuel, replace a motor,
Con; crash safety?

steering option 2:
vary speed t0 each wheel to turn; like a tank
