Energy conservation incentive package

The Ontario Power Authority will be launching a coupon incentive program for residential customers on April 26, 2006. The final details on this program are not yet available, however, some information has trickled out to the media causing some confusion with customers. The following information should help to answer inquiries you may receive from London Hydro customers, and additional information will be provided as soon as it is available.

Ontario Power Authority (OPA) Conservation Bureau to Launch “Every Kilowatt Counts”
A Residential Education & Coupon Incentive Program

The OPA Conservation Bureau will be sending an education and incentive package to 4.3 million homes in Ontario. The mailing will begin on April 26, 2006 and will be supported by a media launch in Toronto and in several other cities throughout the following 2 to 3 weeks. An event will be planned for London and information on the location and date will be announced once confirmed.

The purpose of this program is to provide consumers with easy to apply conservation methods that will reduce their energy consumption.

Retailers in London will be provided with information in advance to support this coupon redemption program.

The envelope that customers will receive at their home address will include discount coupons for the following items:

· ENERGY STAR qualified Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (all wattages)
· ENERGY STAR qualified Ceiling Fans
· Indoor/Outdoor Electric Timers
· Programmable Thermostats

Cool Savings Rebate
This program will encourage Ontario residents to improve the operating efficiency of their central air conditioning (AC) systems by providing the following offers:
· A $50 rebate on a central AC system 'tune-up' (April 21 - June 30, 2006);
· A rebate up to $75 towards the purchase and installation of a programmable thermostat (April 21 - August 31, 2006); and
· A $500 rebate upon replacement of an existing AC system with an ENERGY STAR® qualified system (i.e. 14 SEER or higher) (April 21 - August 31, 2006)

To be eligible for the rebates, services must be performed by a program-registered contractor. Full program details, including a ‘contractor-locator’ for finding a participating contractor near you, will be available on April 21st at .
